Pennsylvania drag queen Brice Patric Ryschon Williams, a genderqueer social worker and well-known LGBT activist, has been charged with 25 counts of child pornography.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s (AG) Child Predator Section in May about files with child pornography being put in a Dropbox account under the name “Anastasia Diamond,” which is Williams’ drag queen name.
This led to a home raid on June 23, with the search confirming at least 25 child pornography files in his bedroom. Williams was then charged with 25 counts of child pornography, 18 counts of “criminal use of a communications facility” and a $100,000 bail that he could not pay.
This comes amid a heated debate regarding the sexualization of children and people defending explicit drag shows for kids where performers expose children to “various levels of adult nudity” in what are supposed to be “family-friendly” shows.
Williams’ involvement in child pornography only makes the drag community look worse, especially considering that his multiple counts of felony came from a two-year investigation by the AG’s office. A subpoena was issued to confiscate the Comcast ISP address associated with the Dropbox account beginning July 2020.
The sexually explicit content found in the Dropbox account included photos that showed genitalia and young boys performing sexual acts with one another NS sometimes with the participation of an adult man. While the authorities said the boys were under 18, they did not specify their ages.
Following the arrest, authorities found 25 videos of child pornography on the drag queen’s phone. An agent involved in the case said the data on his phone is only a small sample of the total number of sexually explicit files that they found on his other devices.
When investigators arrived at Williams’ home on June 23, he admitted to owning the email addresses associated with the pornographic files. He also admitted the phone number listed as the recovery number for one of the addresses was his. The pornographic content found on Williams’ device was connected to his Comcast subscription, which was registered under his home address. He initially denied downloading the videos and media files, but later admitted to consuming such content, including searching, possessing and sharing child pornographic materials since 2014.
On his now-deactivated Instagram account, Williams said he is an “HIV Community Educator” and a “Licensed Masters Level Social Worker.” His profile also indicated that he uses both he/him and she/her pronouns.
Williams is an HIV medical case worker for Keystone Health in Chambersburg. He was the recipient of the 2020 Rising Star Award by the LGBT Center of Central Pennsylvania.
Williams sat down for an interview with PennLive in July 2021, just before he was expected to work with the “safe space” center GLO Harrisburg, a collaborative program of the UPMC Central PA, Hamilton Health Center and LGBT Center of Central Pennsylvania. GLO Harrisburg focuses on helping LGBTQ+ youth of color and talking to them about HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness.
Speaking with PennLive, Williams said: “I feel as though this is so important because I know there are little kids like me who are queer, who are Black, who are still not able to look up to anyone. So that’s the reason why I got into this line of work. I wanted to make a big impact for folks in my community.”
Williams was taken to the Franklin County Prison with a preliminary hearing set for July 5 in front of Magisterial District Judge Kristin Nicklas.
